2. Summary
As the developer, I do not have direct access to your vehicle data, VIN, location data, Bluetooth connection, private vehicle key, app settings, or locally stored content. Tespit has no own user account system, no own backend, no own cloud database, no advertising, and no tracking system.
Many data items remain locally on your iPhone. Certain functions use Apple services, such as StoreKit for purchases/subscriptions, MapKit for maps/routes, Apple diagnostics, or iTunes Search for artwork lookup. In addition, Tesla or Tesla services may independently process their own data related to your vehicle, Tesla account, Tesla app, or vehicle systems. I cannot directly view that data in a database.
3. No Official Affiliation with Tesla
Tespit is not an official Tesla app. The app is not operated, sponsored, reviewed, or officially supported by Tesla. All trademarks and names belong to their respective owners.
4. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
Depending on how you use the app, the following data may be stored or processed locally on your device:
- Vehicle VIN and vehicle name: for local setup and vehicle selection.
- Private vehicle key: stored locally and device-bound in the iOS Keychain.
- Pairing status: to recognize whether a vehicle has already been set up.
- App settings: such as language, layout, units, map style, design, Premium/promo unlock state, and display options.
- Bluetooth and vehicle status during use: for dashboard display.
- Live Activity content: if enabled, to display dashboard information on the Lock Screen/Dynamic Island.
These local data items are not transmitted to me as the developer.
5. Data Processed Through Apple
The app may use Apple services:
- StoreKit: for in-app purchases, subscriptions, purchase restoration, and purchase status.
- MapKit and Apple route calculation: for maps, location, and navigation features.
- iTunes Search: to look up media artwork based on title, artist, or album.
- Apple diagnostics: crash and diagnostic data may be made available to me through Apple if you agreed to share it with developers.
- App Store Connect: Apple may show me aggregated information such as downloads, sales, revenue, subscriptions, and general app statistics.
These services are processed by Apple. I do not see raw data such as your live location, vehicle connection, private key, or locally stored app settings.
6. Data Processed by Tesla
If you use a Tesla vehicle, the Tesla app, a Tesla account, or Tesla vehicle services, Tesla may independently process its own data outside of Tespit. Depending on your Tesla settings and usage, this may include vehicle data, diagnostic data, location/route information, app and account data, safety data, software/service data, or vehicle system data.
Tespit does not operate a backend for this and does not forward such Tesla data to me as the developer. I do not have access to your Tesla account, Tesla app, Tesla servers, Tesla vehicle history, or data that Tesla processes directly from the vehicle or through Tesla services.
Tesla’s own privacy information applies to that processing. You can review Tesla data sharing and privacy options in your Tesla account, the Tesla app, or the vehicle where Tesla provides such settings.
7. Bluetooth and Vehicle Connection
Bluetooth is used to establish a local connection to the supported vehicle. The connection is used for dashboard display and pairing. Private keys remain locally in the iOS Keychain. I as the developer cannot access those keys.
8. Location Data
Location data is used for map, route, and dashboard features. The app requests only “While Using the App” permission. Location data is not transmitted to a developer-owned backend.
9. Clipboard and Tesla Deep Link
The app can paste text from the clipboard through a button, for example the VIN. It can also open the Tesla app via deep link. This does not transmit data to me.
10. Email Support
If you contact support by email, I process the information you voluntarily send, such as your email address, issue description, screenshots, or technical details. Please do not send private vehicle keys, credentials, or sensitive information.
11. No Advertising, No Tracking, No Data Sale
Based on the current project, the app does not use an advertising network, tracking system, Firebase Analytics, or developer-owned analytics backend. Personal data is not sold.
12. Your Rights
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of processing. For requests, please use the email address listed above. Locally stored app data can often be deleted by removing the app from your device.
13. Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated if features, services, or legal requirements change.
